The Kashmir Files director Vivek Agnihotri scathingly called out Ranveer Singh for his flashy and unusual way of promoting Jayeshbhai Jordaar. The Divyang Thakkar directorial was set in rural India where a couple was forced to terminate multiple pregnancies in hopes of a boy. Despite big promotions and names attached to the venture, it failed to create an impact at the box office.
Vivek Agnihotri has raised a question over the above-mentioned flashy promotions where, in his true flamboyant style, Ranveer Singh entertained his fans with his usual quirks and high energy. Considering the subject of the film was rather serious, the filmmaker pointed out how the nature of the promotion was inappropriate.
In an interview with Kushal Mehra, Vivek Agnihotri described Ranveer Singh as ‘the so called number 1 star’. Talking about Jayeshbhai Jordaar ‘which was on female foeticide about how people should not kill girls’, he said, ”What a wonderful subject but then how were they promoting the film? Ranveer went shirtless and was dancing with 25 girls during the promotions. He was like just dancing with 25 sexy and glamourous girls,”
He also questioned, ”It’s not a fashion show or some comedy film. Why would people go and see that?” Earlier, in an interview with ETimes, the director had said, ”Ranveer Singh’s film Jayeshbhai Jordaar was about female infanticide. But what did they do with the promotions? He was dancing with girls at a fashion show, showing his cleavage”.
