Tom Cruise starrer Top Gun: Maverick made fans wait for over 30 years, but the wait was definitely worth it. The movie received widespread critical acclaim and was one of the highest-grossing movies of the year. Top Gun: Maverick has now broken another record and passed Titanic as the seventh-biggest film ever at the domestic box office, earning $662 million in ticket sales.
As per a report by Variety, Top Gun: Maverick has minted $1.3 billion globally and became Paramount studio’s biggest film in its 110-year history. It is also close to reaching Marvel’s epic superhero film Avengers: Infinity War, which is currently the sixth-highest grossing domestic release ever with $678 million. Besides these, the top three positions are taken by Spider-Man: No Way Home ($804 million), Avengers: Endgame ($853 million) and Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($936 million).
Meanwhile, the movie picks up after the 30 years of the 1986 film and follows Maverick as he is called to be put in charge of training a group of Top Gun graduates for a specialized mission under the orders of his fellow naval aviator friend and former rival, Admiral Tom “Iceman” Kazansky played be Val Kilmer. The movie also stars Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Ed Harris.
