Subramanian Swamy To Sue Akshay Kumar Over 'False Potrayal Of Ram Setu Issue' In His Next Film

Akshay Kumar’s next film Ram Setu has led to some legal trouble for the actor. The film will reportedly follow Akshay’s archaeologist character to explore the secrets of Ram Setu, trying to uncover if the bridge is a myth or reality. According to Ramayana, Ram Setu is a bridge built by the lord Rama’s army of Vanara to reach Lanka to rescue goddess Sita, who was abducted by King Ravana.

Weeks ahead of the film’s release BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has alleged “falsification in the portrayal of the Ram Setu issue”. For the unversed, the BJP leader had filed a petition seeking to have ‘Ram Setu’ declared a national heritage monument, the apex court is set to hear the case next week. He has now claimed that the issue has been misrepresented in the film and that facts have been tampered with.

In a series of tweets, he claimed a suit has been filed against the actor and the filmmaker and that he would be seeking compensation from the makers. In one tweet, Swamy wrote, “The suit for compensation has been finalised by my associate Satya Sabharwal Adv. I am suing Akshay Kumar, actor & Karma Media for damages caused by falsification in the portrayal of the Ram Setu issue in their film for release.”

In another tweet, he targeted the actor over his citizenship and wrote, “If actor Akshay Kumar is a foreign citizen then we can ask he be arrested and evicted from his adopted country.”

Meanwhile, Advocate Satya Sabharwal confirmed the suit and stated that the film’s poster has used Subramanian’s SC order. She tweeted, “A film based on Ram Setu has been produced by Karma Media, where Dr. Swamy’s SC Order has been used as a Poster. Will be filing a Suit.”

Directed by Abhishek Sharma, Ram Setu also stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Nushratt Bharucha and Satya Dev in pivotal roles. The film will release on October 24, 2022.
