Sadie Sink has become synonymous with the Netflix hit show Stranger Things. The actress has received worldwide praise and love for her character Max Mayfield on the science-fiction fantasy show. With the character’s emotional arc in season 4, fans have gotten attached to the character as well as Sadie. There is no way one can listen to Running up the Hill without thinking about Max Mayfield or Saide Sink. Now, the actress has revealed that she almost didn’t get the role.
Apparently, when she first auditioned for the role at the age of 14, the casting team has reservations about the way she looked, but Sadie knew Max was the perfect character for her. She opened up about the audition process in an interview with Fashion Magzine and said the casting directors initially told her she was too “old” for the part.
“I just begged and pleaded with them to give me more material so I could show them something fresh,” she said. The casting directors eventually called her for a chemistry read with fellow co-stars Gaten Matarazzo who plays Dustin Henderson and Caleb McLaughlin who plays Lucas Sinclair on the show. She revealed that it was the following day, she got the call and the role was her.

I think being in the industry accelerates you and you mature faster. But for the most part, it’s just so fun because the cast is all going through it together.” She concluded by added, “Honestly, my life has felt a bit like a coming-of-age movie.”
