Touted as one of the biggest releases of 2022, Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, an adaptation of Tom Hanks’ hit movie ‘Forrest Gump’, in a surprising turn of events ended up joining the list of biggest Bollywood flops. While ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ did decent business in the international circuit, the Advait Chandan film failed to allure the audience to the theatres in the country. And with many experts trying to figure out the reason behind the film’s failure, filmmaker Prakash Jha has slammed the makers of ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ for making a ‘bakwas’ film.
In a recent interaction with Cinestaan, Jha said, “A film can’t be made only through money, corporates, and paying a high fee to the actors. One needs to write a good story that makes you understand and entertains.” The renowned filmmaker continued, “If you don’t have a story to tell, stop making films. They should work hard and think original as people have become lethargic.”
After sharing his views on the box office failure of ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, Jha even talked about the boycott culture that has gained momentum on social media during the conversation. “It’s just that people are using social media as a tool of communication. If Dangal, Lagaan tanked, then we could have understood that it happened because of the boycott. But you have made a film that didn’t meet with a favourable reception,” Jha added.
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Jha will soon be seen in filmmaker M Gani’s upcoming movie ‘Matto Ki Saikil’ which is reported to release in theatres on September 16, 2022.
