‘Not Negativity, Content Wasn’t Good’: Ranbir Kapoor Opens Up About ‘Shamshera’s Poor Box Office Performance

Touted as one of the biggest releases of 2022, the Karan Malhotra directorial starring Ranbir Kapoor, Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt turned out to be a huge disappointment. While critics were stunned by the poor narrative, the period action drama failed to strike a chord with the audience. And during a recent promotional event in Delhi, Ranbir admitted that the film failed because of poor content.

The talented actor, who is currently promoting his upcoming movie ‘Brahmastra’, opened up about ‘Shamshera’s failure for the first time at the press conference in Delhi. “I don’t want to speak about other films. I had a film release a month-and-a-half ago, Shamshera. I didn’t feel any negativity about it. If the film didn’t run at the box office, it’s only because the audience didn’t like the film. Eventually, it’s about the content. If you make a good film, entertain people, of course, they will go to the cinema and watch your films,” Ranbir said.

While Ranbir is busy with the promotions of ‘Brahmastra’ with Alia Bhatt and Ayan Mukerji, the upcoming fantasy drama will also feature Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy and Nagarjuna in significant roles. And with the teasers of the movie sparking reports of Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and other actors making a cameo in the movie, fans have been eagerly waiting to catch all the action on the big screen soon.

Talking about the box office, ‘Brahmastra’ has already zoomed past Kartik Aaryan-Kiara Advani’s ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ in the advance booking, with more than one lakh tickets already sold.
