'Laal Singh Chaddha', 'Indian Matchmaking 2', 'Day Shift': Movies And Shows To Watch Out For This Week

Laal Singh Chaddha (Theatres): August 11
Aamir Khan’s anticipated Bollywood release is the remake of Tom Hanks’ Hollywood film Forrest Gump. Laal Singh Chaddha is set to follow the titular character through some of India’s historic moments through the 90s that he influences unwittingly. The film also stars Kareena Kapoor and Mona Singh in pivotal roles.

Raksha Bandhan (Theatres): August 11
Akshay Kumar’s family entertainer is all about love and grace. The trailer revealed that film follows Akshay’s character trying to make a living and save enough for the wedding of his four sisters. On the other hand, his girlfriend played by Bhumi Pednekar is waiting for him to fulfil his ‘brotherly duties’ so they can get married.

Indian Matchmaking 2 (Netflix): August 10
Sima Taparia is returning with new faces ready to play cupid. The reality TV show created quite the stir back in 2021 with the first season and is expected to do the same. In a teaser, Sima Aunty revealed that some people from the previous season may also return to find the right spouse once again.

Victoria’s Secret – Angels and Demons (Lionsgate Play): August 12
The docuseries by Peter Berg and Matt Tyrnauer traces the fall of the legendary lingerie brand and its former billionaire CEO, Leslie Wexner. The trailer of the series went viral on social media for revealing that the idea of the ideal supermodel Victoria Secret was created by a businessman. The series also dives into Wexner’s relationship with wealthy financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

I Am Groot (Disney+ Hotstar): August 10
The mini series is a collection of five animated original shorts starring baby Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel). Groot is an important member of Guardians of the Galaxy and is often seen following the group into fights irrespective of his age. The series reveals some unseen adventures of Baby Groot with the group as he grows up.

Day Shift (Netflix): August 12
The Netflix film follows a new kind of vampire hunters in the middle of LA. Jamie Foxx plays Bud Jablonski, a man living in LA with his wife and daughter, working as a pool cleaner by day and a vampire hunter by night. The film has a new take on vampires and will be seen as the vicious creatures.

Never Have I Ever Season 3 (Netflix): August 12
After finally being in a relationship Devi Vishwakumar (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) finally learns that it isn’t the answer to all her problems. According to the trailer for season 3, there might be a new boy in Devi’s life in addition to her ex Ben’s (Jaren Lewison) and Paxton (Darren Barnet).

Peacemaker (Amazon Prime Video): August 14
John Cena’s DC character Peacemaker is finally getting OTT release in India. The eight-episode series is a The Suicide Squad (2021) spinoff that follows Peacemaker after he awakes at a hospital and is recruited to join the mysterious Project Butterfly.
