Whenever the debate of Nepotism in Bollywood is going it is very unlikely that Karan Johar is not present there. In Kangana Ranaut’s words, Karan is the “Flagbearer of nepotism’ and the filmmaker is now openly admitting to the fact. During the latest episode of Koffee With Karan S7, which was attended by Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor, Karan gave an opening monologue where he claimed that the audience was responsible for making star kids famous.
He said that he was indeed the ‘big daddy of all star kids in Bollywood’ but it was the audience that makes them famous and that makes his job easier. Johar has launched stars kids like Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor, Ananya Panday, Varun Dhawan and more in Bollywood.
Karan cited the example of Taimur Ali Khan and said that he had become a superstar at the age of 6 and it because the audience or fans are crazy behind him. He said, “ I have made peace with myself and happily embraced the title of ‘big daddy of all star kids in Bollywood’, but I share this title with the audience. Accept my congratulations on launching the youngest superstar in town, Taimur Ali Khan. It is your (audience) maniac interest in him that has made him the nation’s obsession.”
Karan added, “I might launch a few stars kids, but you guys, you turn them all into stars the minute they are born, well done. It makes my job much easier. Why wouldn’t I invest in someone, the audience is already invested in right?”
