Karan Johar's 'JugJugg Jeeyo' Lands In Trouble As Indian Writer And Pakistani Singer's Allegations Raise Eyebrows

Just hours after the makers of ‘JugJugg Jeeyo’ dropped the trailer, it seems to have landed in trouble as Pakistani singer Abrar Ul Haq accused Karan Johar of copying his song ‘Nach Punjaban’. Taking to Twitter, Abrar wrote, “I have not sold my song “ Nach Punjaban” to any Indian movie and reserve the rights to go to court to claim damages. Producers like @karanjohar should not use copy songs. This is my 6th song being copied which will not be allowed at all. @DharmaMovies @karanjohar.

While the Pakistani singer threatened to take legal action while claiming that he his song ‘Nach Punjaban’ has not been licensed to anyone, T-Series responded to his tweet stating that they had ‘legally acquired the rights to adapt the song #NachPunjaban released on’.

However, that wasn’t the only allegation raised against Karan Johar, as a writer named Vishal Singh has accused Dharma Movies of using his registered story to make ‘JugJugg Jeeyo’. Tagging Karan Johar on the microblogging platform, Singh tweeted, “Had registered a story.. #BunnyRani with @swaindiaorg in January 2020. I had officially mailed @DharmaMovies in February 2020 for an opportunity to co-produce with them. I even got a reply from them. And they have taken my story.. and made #JugJuggJeeyo. Not fair @karanjohar.”

While the makers of ‘JugJugg Jeeyo’ are yet to respond to this allegation, the film starring Kiara Advani, Varun Dhawan, Anil Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor, has surely garnered a lot of eyeballs thanks to these allegations. Meanwhile, the trailer of ‘JugJugg Jeeyo’ did win over the audience, thanks to the brilliant performanes by lead actors. Read more about the trailer here.

Helmed by Raj Mehta, the family drama is all set to release in theatres on June 24, 2022.
