HBO has finally returned with the first ‘Game of Thrones’ spin-off series ‘House Of The Dragon’ and already hit the bull’s eye with the premiere episode. With the internet already flooded with several interesting theories, memes and posts related to the newly arrived fantasy drama, a Variety report focussing on the viewership numbers of ‘House of the Dragon’ has grabbed everyone’s attention online.
According to the report, the premiere of ‘House of the Dragon’ has not only surpassed its predecessor ‘Game of Thrones’ in the numbers game but also beaten this year’s biggest hit ‘Stranger Things 4’ to top the charts. The report re-shared TV analytics firm Samba TV’s report confirming that the new HBO fantasy drama recorded 2.6 million in the US which is comparatively more than double than what ‘Stranger Things 4’ had recorded (1.2 million), earlier this year.
While the HBO Max website noticed an outage for a few minutes after the arrival of ‘House of the Dragon’, many fans took to social media to complain about the same. Hours after the episode, HBO Max issued an official statement and revealed that the new series watched viewed by millions. “House of the Dragon was successfully viewed by millions of HBO Max subscribers last night. A small portion of users attempting to connect via Fire TV devices had issues and we worked directly with impacted users to get them into the platform,” the statement read.
Based nearly 200 years before the events of ‘Game of Thrones’, the prequel show features Matt Smith, Paddy Considine, Emma D’arcy, Rhys Ifans, Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint and a couple more talented actors in pivotal roles.
