Did Mads Mikkelsen Just Hint At Johnny Depp's Possible Return To 'Fantastic Beasts' Franchise? Find Out

Johnny Depp, who emerged victorious against his ex-wife Amber Heard in their much-publicized defamation trial, could reportedly return to the ‘Fantastic Beast’ franchise, according to Mads Mikkelsen. While the latter replaced Depp in the third instalment of the popular fantasy franchise, Mikkelsen was all praise for the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star and even gave his fans a ray of hope with his comment on the actor’s future in the franchise.

While the Danish actor received the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo Award at the Sarajevo Film Festival for his contribution to art talked about replacing Depp in ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore’. While Mikkelson admitted having concerns about playing the role of Gellert Grindelwald, he did hint at Depp’s possible return post the trial’s verdict. “Well, now the course has changed—he won the suit, the court so let’s see if he comes back,” Mikkelson said as per Deadline’s latest report.

Talking about replacing Depp in the franchise, Mikkelson continued, “I’m a big fan of Johnny. I think he’s an amazing actor, I think he did a fantastic job. Having said that, I could not copy it. There’s there was no way I could just copy it, because it’s so much him. It would be creative suicide. So, we had to come up with something else, something that was mine, and build a bridge between him and me.”

Meanwhile, according to the latest reports making rounds on the internet, Depp is all set to don the director’s hat after almost two decades as he will helm a biopic based on Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani. While Al Pacino is reported to join hands with Depp, the project is expected to go on floors next year.
