‘Brahmastra’ To Rise Against All Odds? Ranbir Kapoor Starrer Collects Record Advance Booking Tickets Worth ₹23 Cr

Ayan Mukerji took 13 long years to translate his extensive vision onto the big screen with Ranbir Kapoor. On September 9, 2022, this magnum opus titled Brahmastra will open in theatres promising a cinematic treat to the audience that they have never experienced before. Along with bringing the legends of Indian mythology to the screen, the director also created a universe with powerful characters in it.

While the makers and actors leave no stone unturned to promote the film and attract the audience to the theatres, Brahmastra is being threatened by the ongoing notorious boycott trend in Bollywood that has seemingly claimed big-budget films like Laal Singh Chaddha and Liger. However, advance booking figures at the box office for Brahmastra show a promising future for the Ranbir Kapoor starrer.

As reported by Hindustan Times, Brahmastra has ended up scoring the best advance booking figures for any Bollywood film post-pandemic. The film, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna and Mouni Roy, has collected ₹11 crores worth of tickets for its opening day across all five languages.

According to the Industry tracking portal Sacnilk, the Hindi version of the Ayan Mukerji directorial earned a total of ₹22.25 crore for its opening weekend; ₹10 crores for its opening day. To compare the figures, the Hindi version of RRR reportedly collected ₹7 crores for the first day in advance bookings. The Telugu version of Brahmastra sold ₹98 lakh, while the Tamil version sold ₹11.1 lakh.

These impressive figures came amidst the strong boycott campaign against the film on social media. While it is safe to say that the film would surpass Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Sooryavanshi for its opening day numbers. However, the forthcoming film still needs a big push to compete against KGF: Chapter 2 Hindi version that opened at ₹54 crores.
