Anurag Kashyap, Taapsee Pannu Asks Fans To Trend 'Dobaaraa' By Boycotting It; 'I Am Feeling Left Out'

Taapsee Pannu starrer Dobaaraa is receiving positive hype from the masses for its unique and intriguing storyline based on the mysterious concept of time travel. The Anurag Kashyap directorial is leaving no stone unturned to promote the film. They are also attempting to hop on social media trends to spread the word of their forthcoming film regardless of the nature of the publicity.

One of the major trends prevailing on the internet in the current time is, undoubtedly, the boycott trend where netizens call for boycotts of films. The recent targets of this trend were Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha, Alia Bhatt’s Darlings and Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan. It looks like the Dobaaraa team was feeling left out in the entire fiasco as recently they urged people to boycott their film as well.

In an interview with India TV, while promoting Dobaaraa, director Anurag Kashyap and actor Taapsee Pannu reacted to the infamous trend by asking the fans to boycott their film as well and get them trending on Twitter. Taking a comical route to approach the issue, Anurag Kashyap quipped, ”I am feeling left out. Even I want ki meri film boycott karo…please make our film trend on Twitter by boycotting,”

The 35-year-old added by saying, ”Please everyone boycott our film, Dobaaraa. I want to be in the same league as Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha and Akshay Kumar’s Raksha bandhan.” The director also said, ”Humko bhi Twitter par trend hona hai. Ab Twitter par jaakr hum kuch likhte nhi hain. Hum pehle bhot kuch likhte the and then trend ho jate the (We also want to trend on Twitter. Now we don’t write anything on Twitter. We used to before and then we’d get trending),” added Anurag.

As bizarre as it sounds, one look at the success of the films in the question being boycotted by the netizens seemed to have benefitted from the publicity. Therefore, it won’t be surprising if some makers might secretly hope to get their films on the trending list, whether for a good or a bad reason. As per a report from Sacnikl.com, both Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan have earned over Rs 1 Crore each from the advance booking. The films will release in theatres on August 11, 2022.
