Ranveer Singh, who appeared on Karan Jahar’s talk show ‘Koffee with Karan’ with Alia Bhatt, made the headline when he opened up about getting ‘unceremoniously dropped‘ from Anurag Kashyap directorial ‘Bombay Velvet’ in 2015. And after weeks, the filmmaker has finally reacted to the remark and revealed the real truth behind Ranbir Kapoor replacing Ranveer in the period crime thriller.
In a recent interaction with Pinkvilla, Kashyap said that the ‘Gully Boy’ star was dropped from the movie because of his low star value. “We were in a transitional phase and I used to listen to those who call them the experts of the industry. And after very long, Ranveer Singh revealed that he was also offered the movie, and then dropped from the project because he would not be able to generate enough money,” Kashyap said.
Furthermore, during the conversation, Kashyap added, “Interestingly, he is making movies with the very same people from the industry. So it’s not like that. This industry is a weird place.”
Talking about the getting replaced in the project on the first episode of ‘Koffee with Karan Season 7’, Ranveer said, “I was not rejected, K. I was unceremoniously dropped because at the time I couldn’t justify the budget. My star value wasn’t high. But things have changed.”
While Ranveer will soon be seen in Karan Johar’s ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ with Alia, Kashyap’s movie ‘Dobaaraa’ starring Taapsee Pannu, is all set to release in theatres today (August 19, 2022).
