After ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ Success, Director Urges Bollywood To ‘Make Good Quality Films’ Amid Flops

With multiple Bollywood projects failing to allure the audience to the theatres, filmmaker Anees Bazmee’s ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ starring Kartik Aaryan, Tabu and Kiara Advani emerged as a ray of hope for Hindi cinema after its impressive run at the box office. But with recent big releases like Akshay Kumar’s ‘Raksha Bandhan’ and Aamir Khan-Kareena Kapoor Khan’s ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ also performing poorly at the box office, the situation continues to remain a big concern for filmmakers and producers.

In a recent interaction with ETimes, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ director Anees Bazmee urged other filmmakers to give the audience ‘something better’ to step out as they have had global exposure at home during the pandemic. “We need to learn that we need to make good quality films. Whatever the audiences liked 5-10 years ago, they don’t like it anymore because they have global exposure. They have watched content from across the world during the pandemic while sitting at home for free,” Bazmee said.

While many Bollywood releases have performed poorly at the box office, South films like ‘KFG: Chapter 2’, ‘RRR’ and ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ have managed to break several records. While the shift has sparked a North Vs South debate online, Bazmee feels that its just a matter of chance as both the industries have been giving their best.

Meanwhile, according to multiple reports making rounds online, Bazmee is all set to reunite with Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor and Fardeen Khan for the sequel of ‘No Entry’.
